Dr. Jonathan Zhu
Dr. Jonathan Zhu is a dedicated dentist with a passion for blending science, creativity, and compassionate care. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and has experience serving patients in both private practice and community health settings in Madison.
Dr. Zhu has a strong interest in prosthodontics and aesthetic dentistry, where he enjoys the combination of precision and artistry required to restore both function and confidence. His path to dentistry began with an early love for healthcare and science, paired with a natural talent for handcrafts discovered during college. For him, dentistry was the perfect intersection of all three.He describes his approach to care as empathetic, careful, and patient-focused. Dr. Zhu’s goal is to ensure that every person in his chair feels safe, respected, and truly cared for.
One of his favorite guiding philosophies is:
“Patients want to feel cared for first; the knowledge comes second.”
Outside of the office, Dr. Zhu enjoys soccer, anime, cosplay, singing, and video games. He’s an avid FC Barcelona fan and can often be found relaxing with a scoop of Babcock ice cream while listening to his favorite song, “Wavin’ Flag” by K’naan. Dr. Zhu values Mercy Dental Group’s focus on community, kindness, and service, and he is committed to bringing a positive, caring presence to every patient he meets.
Dr. Suzanne Kukec
Although she grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Dr. Suzanne Kukec considers herself a true Wisconsinite at heart. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Kukec completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Marquette University. She is the first dentist in her family, and went into the field to help others achieve oral health and feel confident about their smile.
During your appointment with Dr. Kukec, you can guarantee a personalized approach. Her top priorities are making patients feel heard, minimizing dental anxiety, and providing excellent dental care in a welcoming environment. Whether it is your first time to the dentist, or you are a long-standing patient at Middleton Family Dental, Dr. Kukec will treat your visit with utmost importance.
Dr. Kukec is a member of the American Dental Association and the Wisconsin Dental Association. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Kukec enjoys dance and fitness classes, biking, and musical theatre.

After thirty-seven years of faithful dental care for patients and families throughout the Middleton area, Dr. McHugh has moved on to the next phase of his life. His professional legacy of clinical excellence with a patient-first approach has left a significant imprint on our patients and our team.

Dr. Dana Lubet

Legacy Doctor
Dr. Lubet retired in March, 2020, after spending over 30 years in dentistry. He is thankful to all past and present patients for entrusting their dental care to him for the past 3 decades.
The Middleton team is so thankful for the impact his years of service has had on the community, and is committed to carrying on Dr. Lubet's legacy of dentistry driven by family values and dedication to beautiful, healthy smiles.
Dr. Sydney Johnson
Hailing from Green Bay, Wisconsin Dr. Sydney Johnson completed her undergraduate education at Upper Iowa University and went on to receive her doctorate in dentistry from Marquette University in 2020.
Throughout her training, Dr. Johnson has developed a strong treatment philosophy of patient-centered care and understands that everyone’s dental needs are unique. Dr. Johnson strives to help patients find confidence in their oral health and aims to make every patient feel at ease while providing a positive experience for all ages.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with her husband, and can usually be found at the gym or trying out new recipes at home. Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time outdoors and is excited to explore new places in the Madison area!
