Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers help to alter tooth shape, size, and color in a way that looks natural. The veneer is a thin piece of porcelain placed over the tooth, offering improved aesthetics, color that matches natural teeth, and extra strength and resilience comparable to tooth enamel.

Are veneers right for you?

Porcelain veneers offer many benefits including correction of:

  • Misshapen teeth
  • Fractured teeth
  • Discoloration
  • Tooth length
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Minor bite-related issues
  • Other imperfections

And because each veneer is custom-made for the specific patient, the veneer closely resembles a natural tooth. You don’t have to worry about anyone staring at your teeth. All they’ll see is a beautiful smile. Porcelain veneers are also resistant to coffee and tea stains as well as cigarette smoke, the leading causes of discoloration.

Veneers also keep natural teeth largely intact, unlike crowns which require the tooth to be worn down before placement.

But how do you know if veneers are the right solution for you? We begin with a smile analysis to check teeth’s health and condition. We also take into consideration how you would like your smile to look. We can determine if your tooth is suited for veneer placement and consider all treatment options.

Placement Process:

Placing veneers is a minimally invasive procedure. The veneer consists of two layers. A thin ceramic layer replaces natural tooth enamel. An adhesive layer keeps the veneer in place. Placing the veneer typically requires less the removal of less than one millimeter of natural enamel. The dentist then bonds the veneer to the tooth using light-sensitive resin hardened between the tooth and veneer.

Caring for Veneers:

Veneers are quite easy to care for. Just treat them as you would your normal, natural teeth by brushing and flossing as instructed by your dentist and hygienist. Non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste can help your veneers last longer and look their best.

After placement, you will return for a follow-up visit to ensure everything looks right. Porcelain veneers are polished at your regular cleanings using a special polish. They are also checked for any signs of potential failure or necessary adjustments.
